It’s both the coaches and players that pay no heed to the fact that stretching and warming up in relation to <a href=”http://www.soccerdrillstips.com/soccer_practice.html”> Soccer practice </a>. It must be understood that a practice must support the development of players as a whole. Daily practicing soccer training drills is not sufficient.
Strength, elasticity, and patience are necessary in players to stay active in the game. Therefore each practice session should begin with warm up rounds and stretching. Then it should progress into technique teaching and drills or games. In the end, kids should be taught game tactics.
Doing warm up and stretching exercises has two main objectives. It allows the body to get ready for a taxing exercise regime and stretching results in resting of the muscles. Some drills are there that can be used as effective warm up and stretching exercises.
1. Running in Formation: This warm up activity requires all team members to run, two alongside each other, staying in harmony. Since it’s a team activity, it not only adds on to the team spirit in players but also builds player’s endurance. What’s more, when the players progress in a set pattern, the opposing team tends to look at you as a strong wall to fight against.
2. Follow the leader: This is one of those warm up soccer drills that develop the player’s ability to follow orders and to dribble with their heads up, watching other players. In this activity, every player should have a ball. Ask the assistant coach or an advanced player to lead the team. This player should try a lot of new things which should be imitated in turn by the rest of the pack.
3. Reaching out: in soccer practice, this is a well-received stretching exercise. Instruct the players to stretch their legs towards left, right, and center in a standing position. Afterwards, ask them to try touching their toes. At first, they may find it hard but will eventually be able to do it.
4. Lift legs up behind: This is another stretching exercise that works the thighs up. While standing, the kids must raise their leg up behind and then hold it there. Then they must do the same with the left leg. It is important that the kids do not look below else they will lose their focus and balance.
Every practice must have a purpose. As a coach, make the kids learn only 1 to 2 skills. Create games and exercises that warm up the players as well as help them stretch after the training and also develop their abilities.
Being fit is vital. It must be noted that the team that gets exhausted loses. Make use of a soccer ball for every drill that you make the kids do. Instruct the kids to run around the field while dribbling a ball.
